Pumps

A detailed examination of the characteristics of all types of pumps, addressing the effect of the process system on pump reliability including all hydraulic disturbances and practical condition monitoring guidelines of all major components (Rotors, Journal Bearings, Thrust Bearings, Seals and Auxiliary Systems) and pump selection.

Compressors

A detailed examination of all types of compressor characteristics, addressing the effect of the process system on compressor reliability including stall surge and stove wall and practical condition monitoring guidelines of all major components.

Auxiliary Systems

Focusing on all types of major auxiliary systems (lube, seal (wet and dry), control and pump flush) this course presents guidelines for auditing the major components in each system to ensure the proper design and highest level of operating reliability. Actual examples of lube and seal system designs will be performed by class groups with special emphasis on dry gas seal system best practice.

Steam Turbines

The course will provide the Participant with a basic steam turbine technology inventory required to successfully select, apply, troubleshoot and maintain steam turbine equipment

This course will cover the operating principles of steam turbines, specifications, their design, thermodynamics, effects of efficiency on operating costs, energy usage, effect on plant costs, special materials of construction, selection, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Mechanical Seals

Upon completion of this course, participants will have a basic understanding of the function, design, selection, operation and maintenance of mechanical seals
