Aspen HTFS(TM) - PO1200
Course ID: PO1200
Course Name: Aspen HTFS(TM)
Course Category: Process Engineering
Course Subject: Full Range Heat Exchanger Design and Rating
Duration: 18 hours
Agenda:
Objectives

• Enhance understanding of thermal design of shell and tube heat exchangers
• Benefit from practical experience using software in design and simulation exercises to solve process industry problems requiring the application of basic and advanced modeling skills
• Optimize work processes using the Aspen Tasc+ software
• Examine issues in thermal design of air cooled exchanger applications including gas and liquid coolers; air versus water cooling; heat recovery and other applications of tubular crossflow exchangers

• Optimize the investment in Aspen Acol+™ software for design and simulation of water coolers and condensers

Course Benefits

• Learn the fundamentals of producing a cost optimized exchanger design
• Find out how to avoid tube vibration at the design phase
• See how to exploit detailed exchanger modeling in overall process design through run-time integration of Aspen Tasc+ with Aspen HYSYS® or Aspen Plus® (demonstration)
• Understand the requirements for design of boilers and condensers including physical property information
• See how to optimize for both mechanical and thermal design requirements through the integration of Aspen Teams® (Mechanical Design) with Aspen Tasc+ (demonstration)
• Learn the general design considerations covering process side, air side, fan selection and physical properties

• Investigate thermal design principles, counter current exchangers and extended surfaces

• Explore process-side events and responses, including single and two phase heat transfer, boiling, condensing and fouling

• Use Aspen Acol+ software to input data and interpret results using examples listed on next page

• Demonstrate the Aspen Acol+ capabilities, including simulation modes, design mode and row and pass capabilities
